Airfare

It’s time to start thinking about airfare to Alaska.  We thought about driving and would like to see various things on the way there and back…but time is an issue here.  We don’t want to feel rushed in driving back and forth and the pressure of making X number of miles per day.  We have opted to fly up and just rent a car when we want it. 

I have just briefly checked on this.  Seems Alaska Air is the main carrier!  I hoped to use my United miles but I guess that won’t happen.  I need to set aside some time to check it all out.  Soon, I hope. 

Just changed the name of this blog to reflect our new travel dates…

Postponed…

Okay we postponed this trip until July 2011.  We really hope to go on the Gator Cruise in Japan and see Steven.  If we are not accepted we will look for a last minute trip of some sort and just “do it” – OR we will stay home and work like dogs all of July to get the house back in shape.  That is probably what we should really do, but floating on the sea calls to us as well. 

The owner of the apartment was very nice and happy with the amount of notice we had given him.  We did feel bad to wait until that very last moment, which would have been June 1st.  Hope when we make the trip next year we will be able to drive as we first planned to do and see some of the country between here and there and take the ferry a couple of different ways as well. 

So it begins…

   Oh boy!  On Friday we got the name and number a man who rents a little house in Ketchikan, AK.  We have been thinking about how we can escape the heat of summer.  We hesitated to call on the holiday weekend but this morning I suggested John call and get information about this as I was heading out for necessary errands.  Before I even got back home John texted to let me know “we got the house”!!!  I guess he liked what landlord had to say!  Wow!  I can hardly believe it!  Preparing the deposit check right now!
