A very quiet day. I am a bit cranky since we have no internet. Our landlord contacted the company and they are having “technical issues” but it was not resolved all day. We spent the morning at the library enjoying the free Wi-Fi, newspaper, etc. We also borrowed another movie to watch today. There are 5 ships in port today so town is very crowded. I admire the people of Ketchikan for the grace and hospitality they offer so many visitors. Sadly some are not very good guests and have forgotten any manners they might have had. BUT – that’s another story.
Some house cleaning today, and laundry. Our landlord Jim invited us to a $7.50 BBQ at the yacht club but we ate a late lunch so we didn’t go.
We spent some time trying to get garage door repairs for our tenants, to no avail. We have repair insurance through American Home Shield for our rental condo and thought it would be easy to arrange this. We have been happy with them in the past but John sat on the phone on hold waiting for service for 55 minutes! We still have to address this issue tomorrow.
It was a mostly sunny and we enjoyed the day very much. Clouds seemed to come in toward the end of the day and by the time the last ship, Celebrity Century, left at 8:30pm it was quite cloudy.
High cost of living in Alaska. These are pretty large watermelons for this price. The last batch for the same price were 2/3 the size! I think of all the fresh produce we have at much cheaper prices compared to here, we are very blessed in the central valley.
